Sarah Pekala
As an English major at Northeastern University, I learned that while the written word is innately beautiful, it's also a powerful tool for informing, persuading, and creating meaning.
I began my writing career in 2011 at Harvard Business Publishing, writing online leadership development courses for some of the world's largest Fortune 500 companies. After working in Product Development for five years, I was given an opportunity to create content with our Marketing team—a project that sparked my interest in content marketing. In 2015, I joined Jana as a one-person business marketing team. Over the course of two years, I expanded my work to managing the strategy for all written content related to brand marketing and lead generation, inclusive of social media, collateral, blogging, and ghostwriting. I also coordinated events and public relations.
I joined BevSpot in 2017 to lead content marketing efforts related to both lead generation and brand marketing. After collaborating closely with the Product team, I expanded my role to include Product Marketing, with an eye to lead conversion and customer retention. I also worked closely with Engineering, Design, and Product to lead UI copywriting strategy and execution.
I believe that in order for brands to be successful, their content should be authentic—we can all smell inauthenticity a mile away. Content should be conversational, not fussy, so I strive to bring a human voice to anything I write. My style is easily adaptable for any audience or platform, both in-product or across marketing campaigns. I'm a stickler for perfection and my publishing background drives my need for consistency. Without it, brand identity crumbles.
In my spare time, I enjoy (mostly) training for marathons, traveling to new places, eating my way through Boston's restaurant scene, and spending time with my husband and our French Bulldog, Koji.
